Make Your Own Coconut Oil

When in the islands there is nothing better than using your own natural and home made coconut oil, this will require stong hands so make sure you've had your breakfast before you start out on this project.....

you will need:-

6 coconuts (dry, husked and cracked ready to be scraped)
one big dish to scrape it into
1 nice clean piece of calico 45cm x 45cm
and a nice strong heavy based small pot to cook it in.

step one: scrape the coconut
step two: squeeze the grated coconut pulp very well (Do not add water)
step three: strain into the small pot
step Four: cook on medium/low heat until the coconut cream is brown and the oil comes to the surface.

let cool and then pour into a jar with good airtight lid.
this can be kept for up to two months. always remember to put in the sunlight every day.

To add aroma scents, heat oil until hot and add a few drops of your favourite scent...let cool before bottling it.

Now you have a natural oil to keep your body smooth and sensual, also good for massage and even your hair.

Note: you can use canned coconut milk for this however freshly grated is the best.

Enjoy!!!

Beauty Tips - for todays modern woman

Use your blow-dryer on a cold setting to dry your lotion and sunscreen, says dermatologist Fredric Brandt, MD, author of 10 Minutes/10 Years. Allowing skin care products to set makes your makeup go on more smoothly and last longer.

The newest age erasers? Fungi-filled face products. "Antioxidant-rich mushrooms decrease inflammation that leads to wrinkling and a loss of firmness, and they don't cause irritation," says Marta Rendon, MD, of the University of Miami School of Medicine. Some 'shrooms also contain enzymes that speed cell turnover, slow collagen breakdown, and improve tone and texture.

Dermatologists are rolling out the red carpet for CoffeeBerry, a new skin care star that promises a younger complexion. The extract, which comes from the berries that house coffee beans, packs polyphenols, antioxidants with the most free-radical fighters. "You're protecting against cellular damage, a main cause of aging," says David McDaniel, MD, assistant professor of dermatology at Eastern Virginia Medical School.

By the time you hit 40, you'd learned to juggle more than three things at once (um, try 30 things). Now some moisturizers are catching up to your speed. Besides containing a hint of self-tanner that allows skin to slowly darken, the newest daily glow lotions are packed with potent hydrators (like ginkgo biloba) and tightening ingredients (including caffeine and ginseng) that make jiggly skin look and feel firmer, reports Mary Lupo, MD, a Prevention advisor and a clinical professor of dermatology at Tulane University.

If the number of night creams coming onto the market is any indication, the right time to pamper your skin is when you hit the sack: Last year consumers spent about $56 million on nighttime moisturizers alone. Although no scientific studies have been published comparing nighttime with daytime products, there may be some advantages to treating your skin while you slumber.

Cosmetic chemists know, for example, that many anti-aging ingredients stay active longer when they're not exposed to sunlight. Retinoids, which speed cell turnover, "can break down chemically with light exposure and become ineffective," says Julian Omidi, MD, a dermatologist in private practice in Los Angeles.

Other "anti-agers"--such as topical vitamins, including C and E--don't hold up well in sunlight or air. They're in both day and night products, but you probably get more antioxidant bang for your buck when you apply them before you go to sleep.

Smashing your face into a pillow creates fold lines that eventually become permanent if they're repeated every night. Spending time on your back also helps counter the effects of gravity that accumulate during the day. In a recent study of 38 women and men, Japanese researchers found there was greater wrinkling in the afternoon than in the morning; they concluded that the face literally falls with gravity as the day progresses. At night, you get a chance to reverse that.

New Lady Look from the ISLANDS

Todays' women are becomeing and very curious in the different fashion fads that are up and coming, one that is very interesting as it is just a baby fashion fad is the Island Trend........this trend can be very beautiful and serene in a highly sophisticated way..

From the garment to the accessories themselves there is absolutley myriads to choose from.

It is only today that Islanders have began to appreciate the uniqueness of thier culture and how they can have quiete an influence in the beauty/fashion industry, yet how this can be made more available is an obstacle that needs to be tackled.
Not many people in the islands know how to use the internet and the power of internet marketing........therefore this new type of communication is very.

I hope to bring the many unfortunat into this mediu, as I have see the outstanding pieces of traditional island jewellery that can be hand made.

Ladies thats the spirit keep it going!!! The beautiful colored prints on sarongs and the cowrie belts were splendid on Elle, if more models tried out these unique island trends I can garauntee it would kick up a storm alright

Part 7 - Be a Visionary

7. Build a vision. Create a story that presents your proposal as their solution. In helping the other person see exactly what he or she will gain from your plan, you spark decision-making and action.

This is the reality of being an entrepreneur...and if your into jewellery like me or any other business, remember these seven steps will help you greatly.

Take not and dont forget that saying NO doesnt mean anything bad...

You have a vision of your business and the benefits to your customers, so, make it materialize!!! NEVER GIVE UP..

Part 6 - Networking

6. Get them talking. Ask open-ended questions that begin with what and how. Find out what the other person wants and needs, and then show him or her how your proposal actually benefits them.

as you may already be aware, in business many times it is the benefits that sell your products not the shape or the brand nor the trend but the benefits, always remember that and when you promote your jewellery you can always make a list of the benefits of buying that particular piece what makes it a must have item?...

Part 5 - Dont be Emotional

5. Check your emotions at the door. Exercise self-control, and let go of any expectations, fears, or judgments. (And, whatever you do, don't be needy.) Sure, this is easier said than done, but it gives you an edge.

A true business woman will not run her business with her heart...that would be a road to business breakdown, although you may have a very good clientele but if you cannot make decisions and run your daily business strictly then you in for disaster

Part 4 - Face Your Problems

4. Face problems head-on. Identify the "baggage" -- both theirs and yours -- and bring these issues out into the open. Facing, not avoiding, problems gives you an edge.

This way those who cause problems will have more respect for you and will cause less hassle for your jewellery business.

Part 3 - Do Your Homework

3. Do your homework. Learn everything you can before you begin. This way, you prevent a minefield of surprises, whether you're dealing with the boss, a car dealer, or your own teenager.

a wise proverb says that you cannot build a house first without a plan you need a plan and then the house can go up......can you imagine building without a plan?? this is the same as starting a jewellery business...

You need to calculate the cost and weigh it whether its worth it or not?? how far are you gona take the business?? who are your target markets...etc...

Wrtite your business plan...

Part 2 Action Speaks Louder

2. Dwell not. Dwell on what you want, and you blow your advantage. Throughout the discussion, focus instead on what you can control -- your actions and behaviors.

what you can do and do it, dont put the IF word in front but I CAN is simpler and be a doer not just a listener, right??

Step 1 to NO!!

1. Start with no. Resist the urge to compromise. Instead, invite the other person to say "no" to your proposal. (Hint: Don't tell him or her what it is -- at least not yet.) And be clear that, personally, you don't take no as rejection, but as a candid start to an honest discussion.

It is true you might feel a little mean doing so but in order to succeed we need to put out feet down more often especially when it mean compromising desicions that will affect your jewellery business...

Being a well known person in my area, in my country I am often sought after to make specific orders for certain women...ON CREDIT basis which at time slows the business, some of these materials are not easily aquired and the fastest way to get thme is to buy from the market....so..please understand ladies and friends I dont mean to be mean, its jsut not an option

Seven Ways to Get What You Want in 2008

Most of us have been taught that if we want others to cooperate with us, we have to compromise -- that is, to get something, we have to give something. There's a better way, however, to getting what you want: Start with no. So, if your New Year's resolutions for '08 include being more assertive, standing up for yourself, and reaching your goals, the "No System" can be your ticket to success. Seven steps to get moving:

Successful Sales 2007

Promote Your Jewellery Here

I have never come accross a better medium to promot my stuff, although I am just a moonlighter business person it has realy helped to put me and my business in unique earrings and necklaces out there.

Not many people know what green snail shells look like but when its been made into an interesting piece of jewellery you'll never guess what it came from, even the Black lips shells....I bet some of you would have thought I was speaking of literally "black lips" on a person!!!

Well the end results are stunning and they dont have to cost too much either especially in a place like Solomon Islands where these things are available in abundance, the only hard work it requires is the skills in cutting and grinding the shells to give them the finshed polished look.

I think that there is no better way or place to promote your stuff, in the jewellery catergory or any other hobby, you can find very helpful tips on Blogger.

Jewellery and Findings

I am wondering if there are any of my keen readers and followers on Blogger know of a place where I can get good quality findings for my jewellery pieces, I am running out but I know that there must be a place some where I can get at a good bargain....CHeers
